Firefighters Englehardt and Curtis Run for Charity

On September 29, 2013, firefighters Luke Englehardt and Sean Curtis participated in the Tunnel to Towers 5K run honoring firefighters and police officers lost in the line of duty.

Engelhardt raised nearly $500 in less than a week leading up to the event, and both firefighters wore their full turnout gear for the run—which included: boots, helmets, jackets and pants.

The Tunnel to Towers event was created in memory of Stephen Siller, a Brooklyn firefighter who died on Sept. 11, 2001 trying to rescue people inside the World Trade Center. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation continues to honor the 343 fallen firefighters, as well as those veterans that have paid the ultimate price in Iraq and Afghanistan.
