First Presbyterian Fundraiser Yields a $700 Donation to MFD

Space Heater Safety

As the temperatures dip this winter many of us rely on space heaters to supplement heat in our homes or places of work. However, space heaters can be a real safety hazard if you don’t take the proper precautions when using them. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that more than 25,000 residential fires every year are associated with the use of space heaters, causing more than 300 deaths. continue reading →


In Memoriam: Joseph A. Grassi

Joseph A. Grassi of Mendham passed away on Dec. 31, 2013 at Holly Manor Center in Mendham. He was 90. Born in Mendham he was a lifelong Mendham resident. Joe was an Army veteran who served in the 11th Airborne Division Company 188, during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He was the recipient of a purple heart.

The Mendham Fire Department is pleased to announce this year’s Scholarship Winner is Firefighter Alex Cascais. Alex, a member since November of 2011, was awarded $2,000.00 by the Mendham Independent Hook & Ladder Company on April 29, 2012.
